Christ Ahnsahnghong and Baptism

Was my baptism too soon?

One of the things I kept asking myself after attending the World Mission Society Church of God, was if I was baptized too soon. I know baptism is important, and there are differences of doctrine about this topic from Church to Church. However most of my life I thought that to be baptized I had to study for 6 months to a 1 year, and then have this big party celebrating my new milestone. In the WMSCOG I was offered Baptism immediately after my first study, contrary to popular belief I found that the practice of immediate baptism is the correct biblical practice.

Baptism is the cure to a terminal illness.

In order to understand the importance of baptism, we need to see it for what it is, the cure to a terminal illness. Let me explain, according to the Bible the reason why we all have to die is because of sin (Romans 6:23), this means that Sin is like a terminal illness. To cure this illness God has provided a way for us, which is through the ceremony of baptism. Baptism has the promise of the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38), therefore providing a cure to the illness which is sin. When we receive baptism we will be cleansed from all our sins.

When is the best time to get baptized?

NOW!!!! Yes that’s right, the best time to get baptized is ASAP. The reason for this is, because we have no idea what is going to happen in the next 5 minutes.

Proverbs 27:1Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.

Then why does the Bible teach that we should not boast about tomorrow? Well, Jesus Christ explained it through a parable.

Luke 12:16-20 – And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ “Then he said, ‘ This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’ “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

Just like the man in the story, we make plans for our future, however, we do not know if this will ever come. It’s a sad reality, but it is something we have to face. That is the reason baptism should not be delayed, but it should be performed as soon as possible. Baptism grants us the forgiveness of sins, which at the ends gives us a chance to enter the kingdom of heaven.

It is wrong to teach that baptism should be performed after 6 months to 1 year of studying the Bible, it would be similar to seeing someone drowning, but instead of helping the person drowning we start to give them a course on how to properly save someone who is drowning. Obviously that does not make sense, we need to save the person first and then they can learn whatever it is that they need to learn. In the same way, Christ taught us the example of saving people through baptism first, and then they can learn all the things contained in the gospel.

Immediate baptism is a teaching of Christ.

2,000 years ago Jesus came into this world and He became the foundation of what we call “Christianity” today. All the things that Jesus taught and practiced were carried on by His disciples. Among the many things that Christ taught, Jesus taught that baptism is essential for salvation

Mark 16:15 – He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned…”

Following the teachings of Christ, His disciples carried on His will by going into the world preaching the good news and baptizing those who believed the message. There are several examples in the Bible of how the disciples did not delay to baptize anyone:

  • A Treasurer of Ethiopia met Apostle Philip and, after hearing the Good News, asked Philip to baptize him on the side of the road – he didn’t even ask about going to a Church! (Acts 8:26-38)
  • Cornelius welcomed Apostle Peter to his home – Where Peter baptized him, his family and his friends that same day. (Acts 10:24-48)
  • Apostle Paul baptized an entire family because they wanted to be saved. This took place at midnight, after an earthquake! (Acts 16:25-34)
  • On a Sabbath Day, Lydia listened to Apostle Paul’s preaching and decided to get baptized on the spot. And it was their first time meeting! (Acts 16:13-15)

Regardless of time and place, these people got baptized right away because they realized that tomorrow is never guaranteed. The Apostles never refused nor postponed a request to baptize people, they never said: “Cornelius you cannot be baptized now, you have to study 6 months to 1 year, then you can get baptized” The Apostles understood the importance of baptism, and they performed it immediately in accordance with the teaching of Christ.

Baptism in the name of Christ Ahnsahnghong

One more thing that is essential for baptism in this day and age, it is to know the name of the Holy Spirit. According to the commandment of Jesus Christ, we must baptize people in the NAME of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:18-19 – Then Jesus came to them and said, “All Authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

As we can see through the words of Jesus Christ, baptism should be performed in the Name of the Father, which is Jehovah. In the Name of the Son, which is Jesus. And also in the NAME of the Holy Spirit. Yes I know, you have never heard that the Holy Spirit has a name, or you might have been taught that the name of the Holy Spirit is (drum roll)…… Holy Spirit, or Holy Ghost. But that would not make any sense, otherwise the Fathers name would have to be Father, and the Sons name would have to be Son. However, we can clearly see that just as the Father has a name, and the Son has a name, then the Holy Spirit must also have a name.

In the World Mission Society Church of God, we believe that the name of the Holy Spirit is Christ Ahnsahnghong, this means that to be correctly baptized in this day and age, we must be Baptized in the name of the Father, Jehovah; in the name of the Son, Jesus; and in the name of the Holy Spirit, Christ Ahnsahnghong.

Now why is the name of the Holy Spirit Christ Ahnsahnghong?

Well that’s for you to find out and for us to tell you, please visit your nearest World Mission Society Church of God for a Bible study, and you can find out why Christ Ahnsahnghong is the name of the Holy Spirit.

When I came to the Church of God it just made perfect sense to be baptized that same day, I had never understood the bible so clearly until the night I came to study the bible for first time at the church of God. Everything I had learned before as a Christian was a fairy tale made up by men and did not lead me to the Christ in the Bible, but once I studied the bible in the Church of God I realized how plain and simple the teachings of God are and that everything else I was taught all my life was not from God and it never brought any benefit to my spiritual life, not to say any forgiveness of sins. I am extremely thankful to God for leading me to the right Church and for granting me Forgiveness of sins! If I could go back in time to the first time I came to the Church of God to study when I received baptism, this time too I would not hesitate to be baptized that same day.

When I came to Church of God, I too studied many studies about the Name of the Holy Spirit. I know the one who brought us Passover is God. So I soon was baptized after I realized about Passover. I’m so excited to know God’s Love for us. I encourage anyone who truly is seeking God in these last days to go to a local World Mission Society Church of God. That is where God dwells. There you will know THE TRUE NAME OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

When I was invited to the Church of God one of the things that was brought up to my attention was that we should be baptized in the three names. All my life I thought I was baptized correctly, so it was a great shock for me to know I had been mistaken. Immediately I decided to visit the Church of God and after studying the Bible with them, I decided to receive baptism. I clearly saw that in order to be forgiven of my sins I needed to be baptized correctly. Naturally, as anyone else who desires to be forgiven and enter the kingdom of heaven I was baptized right away. I give thanks to God for leading me to the Church of God which actually puts into practice the teachings of Christ.

The scriptures also say in Acts 22:16

And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’

The Bible testifies in so many places that we need to baptized and not delay because you want to go to heaven this is the way……but as the article says it must be in the church that keeps all the commands of God. This is the World Mission Society Church of God that keeps and practices all the commands of Christ including keeping the sabbath day holy and keeping the new covenant passover along with all the annual feasts of God. Even if we were baptized before in another church, we must be re-baptized in the Church that Christ himself established 2000 years ago and this is the Church of God!

  4. Matthew C

When I was 11 I got baptized for the first time. I remember that I wanted to get baptized because I believed in Jesus, but my church made me wait several months and complete a study packet. Where is that in the bible? Did Philip or Paul ever set an example like that? This article points out the facts that the Apostle’s, who learned directly from Christ, practiced baptism immediately. Why should salvation be delayed? I am very thankful that I belong to the church which follows the true example of Christ.

After knowing that I must be baptized immediately I still hesitated thinking it’s too soon… However, after being convinced that everything is according to the teaching of the Bible and that following Jesus & Apostles examples we will never go wrong, I obeyed & got baptized.
I have never regretted my decision ^^
after baptized I received even more blessings and perfect faith in the truth World Mission Society Church of God taught!
Don’t worry everything will go well if we obey what the Bible teach 🙂

I always knew that baptism was the first step to my life in Christ, but I never understand why most churches make you wait. Baptism allow you to be forgiven of your sin, it only seems correct it should be done immediately. Thanks to God I was baptized and now have the promise to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

  7. Aaron

I was baptized the very first day of visiting the church. I must say I never regretted that decision. I was looking for the truth for so long. However this should come as no surprise to anyone who follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. Matthew 28:18-20New International Version (NIV)

18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

The verse explains that Christ intentions for the disciples is to baptize the members then later teach them everything. God wants his children to confirm their salvation through baptism and do not delay it. Im just so joyful that God has chosen me and allowed me to receive this beautiful blessing :).

  8. Kim

I think it is awesome that the WMSCOG does not delay baptism–this is proof that the church follows the teachings of the Bible! Can anyone show any example in the Bible of the disciples delaying baptism?…

    …didn’t think so!

  9. Leonardo

The biblical teachings are so clear I was very shocked when I saw them. The baptisms that go on today are totally different than those from 2,000 years ago. Word of God is amazing! Thank you Father and Mother 🙂

  10. Sally Som

Praise be to God! I am so thankful to Father&Mother for letting me receive baptism the very same night I got to do a study for the first time. Truly, everything happens in accordance to God’s true and perfect will and timing. Baptism is truly amazing and a precious gift from God given to us by their immeasurable grace and mercy. We can never thank God Elohim enough for what they have done for and prepared for us!!

  11. Amanda

I attended a few different churches with my mom during my childhood and in high school just went to whatever church my friends went to. Needless to say, church was a social place for me. When I started to question why I came to church I started wondering about baptism and how to truly dedicate my life to God. The youth pastor told me that baptism is the way to show the church you want to live for God. In my mind, I decided I didn’t need to be baptized then because it doesn’t mean I can’t go to heaven it’s just a symbolic thing for the church members to see me do. So I was never baptized, until I came to the World Mission Society Church of God. This is the only church that explained to me through the Bible that baptism is essential for my soul to enter heaven. I am so thankful that God rescued me from drowning in all the falsehood that was taught to me since my childhood by the very people whom I trusted to teach me the truth. Thanks to Father Christ Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother for having mercy and compassion on me!

When I first came to the Church of God in 2011, I never imagined that I was going to leave that same day baptized. I was atheist before coming to the bible study but agreed to go with my husband. After doing a couple of bible studies, I was able to learn that the Bible is 100% fact and I also realized that the the WMSCOG was the true church because they actually kept what the bible commanded as opposed to all other churches in the world. I am not one to make irrational decisions and jump into something so quickly but when I saw the teaching in the bible that you need to be baptized immediately if you want to receive salvation of your soul, I couldn’t say no. Even the weeks following my baptism the thought arose “did I get baptized too soon?” However, the word of God always comforted me and reminded me that I not only made the right choice to be baptized in the WMSCOG but that I made the BEST decision of my entire life.

  13. Mihaela

The explanation on why baptism needs to be performed immediately is so clear! The Bible truly has all the answers!
I just want to share my experience in the church.
When I first came to the the WMS Church of God I learned two studies and then I was offered baptism.
Although at that time I didn’t know the Bible much, I decided to do it because what I had just studied came straight from the Bible and I wanted to obey God 100%.
It has been the best decision I ever made and I thank God for moving my heart to receive baptism right away.I couldn’t be happier even after 7 years of attending the church!
