World Mission Society Church of God & The End of the World

World Mission Society Church of God & The End of the World

Did the World Mission Society Church of God preach about the End of the World?

So as I was browsing the web, I came across an article written by someone who seems to be a bit overconfident about  her claims. The author of this article brags about having unveiled the failed predictions of the World Mission Society Church of God.

First of all, the World Mission Society Church of God has never taught that the end of the world was going to take place in the year 2012. You will not find records of this in the official website of the World Mission Society Church of God or in any official announcements from the General Assembly.

The author of the article goes on to quote the judgment on the case of the Church of God vs. Ji Won Tak as evidence that the World Mission Society Church of God predicted the end of the world in 1988, 1999 and 2012. One thing you have to understand is that the claims on that report were made by the defense of Ji Won Tak. Every claim made by Tak was deemed false and ultimately the witnesses who spoke on behalf of Tak against the Church lost their case.

The World Mission Society Church of God does not preach the end of the World

Korean Newspaper which declared the verdict of Korean Supreme Court that the Church of God does not preach about the End of the World, nor does it break families

The World Mission Society Church of God never predicted the end of the world in 1988,1999 or 2012.

The author goes on saying that she gets the information directly from Korea, as if the information from Korea was different from what is taught in the Churches in the US. Let me ask a question, if the information coming from Korea is supposed to unveil the discrepancies and prove false the World Mission Society Church of God, then why is it that the majority of Church members of the World Mission Society Church of God reside in Korea? And why are there 400 churches in Korea? Because they already know that the claims made in the article are false.

As I have already said, the claims being made are comparable to someone boasting about learning the true facts of the life of Jesus and the Church 2,000 years ago from the Pharisees and the Sadducees of the time who did not follow or believe in Him.

When Jesus resurrected 2,000 years ago, the guards who witnessed the event went to the religious leaders of that time and told them everything that had happened. But the Pharisees paid them a sum of money and told them to tell everyone that Jesus’ disciples stole the body while everyone slept.

Matthew 28:11-15 – While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day.

Imagine if I started to proclaim that I know the true life of Jesus Christ because I learned from the religious leaders of His time. Do you think I would have true faith in Christ if I did that? Absolutely Not! In the same way, the alleged information coming from Korea that the author of that article receives is actually coming from people who do not believe in Christ Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother. Then, how can anyone expect this report to be accurate?  Do you think that those who do not believe in Christ Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother will say good things about them? The answer is No.

You have questions? Contact your local Church of God; they will be more than willing to answer them.

Church of God has always had its doors open for anyone who is confused or has questions about the teachings of the Bible. If I have a question about science and look into a math book, I’m not likely to find the answer. Likewise, please come to church of God and learn truth and you will see church of God is 100% solid truth!

  2. Yudelka

It’s so true! How can I get the actual facts from somebody that doesn’t believe. People who don’t believe will not believe even though they see the bible. That’s why it’s called “non-believer”. Though the truth is there, they choose not to believe. Which is okay for them, not everyone has to believe. But how can people listen to those who see the bible but don’t believe what they see. It makes a lot of sense to me now. It’s like going to an atheist to ask about Christ. No sense! I really hope people realize this and have the mind to at least see for themselves what the bible prophesies.

  3. Matthew

Reminds me of the passage in Matthew 28:12-15

“When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ … And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day.”

The people who cliam to be able to examine the World Mission Society Chruch of God are doing the same thing, they are spreading a story that has been made up by people who dislike the Church of God. They are circulating a story which is a lie.

Thank you for showing evidence that this calim is false.

  4. Mindy

If I were the person who thought I found some ‘golden’ information about a rumor that the World Mission Society Church of God was spreading a time based eschatology, only to find out it was proven false by the Supreme Court years ago, and on top of that, the same Church continues to grow, and grow and receive more and more awards, praise, and acclaim from governors, singers, actors, writers, presidents, and yes even kings of countries… I would feel pretty ashamed.

Through this Church’s good merit and acclaim, we can see this is a great Church!
As God says in the book of Matt. 7:16-17, “16 By their fruit you will recognize them… every good tree bears good fruit.”

The Church of God follows prophecies not predictions. I have heard scientist on the History, Discovery and Science Channel predict that the end of the world will be in 2012 and it never happened. But people still continue to regard those same scientist as credible and even attend their classes as some of those scientist are college professors. I became a member of the Church of God before 2012, and never once did I ever see or hear any announcement or teaching that the end of the world would be in 2012. Please see for yourself that the Church of God teaches about life and salvation.

  6. John M.

As a member of the World Mission Society Church of God I have never heard of an end date of the world, and I have studied many prophecies with the church over my 5 year span. “Time limited eschatology” or “end of the world” predictions are simply not taught in the church.

  7. Angel

It is funny how the World Mission Society Church of God is being accused of spreading a time limited eschatology. In that case, we should accuse scientists and the media for spreading a time limited eschatology. It is utter nonsense what those who speak against the church claim, but then again 2,000 years ago the true church had to go through persecutions and opposition. So, Thank Father and Mother for the opposers. It is more proof that we truly are in the correct lineage of the Church of God.

  8. Ciara S.

Those who do not believe in Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother will not have anything nice to say! It is so true! And when you actually listen to what they have to say it makes no sense. We must not listen to the people who do not go to the Church of God because they have no knowledge of the church’s teachings. Instead we must go to the Church of God and study the Bible. It is the only way to get the first hand experiences and understanding about the teaching’s of the Church of God and see that everything is true 100%. Those who speak against the church will continue to do this because God is exposing their falsehood.

  9. Davina

Even though the World Mission Society Church of God went through this trial in Korea, we can clearly see the results of the Supreme Court ruling proving that their allegations against the Church are not true and based on their own religious prejudice. If someone has any sense, they can see that the same people that tried in Korea are working with some in the US to do the same thing all over again. No matter how hard they try, they won’t win because they are fighting against Gods Church! Even 2000 years ago the Chief priests, elders and teachers of the law came together to falsely accuse Christ.

    Mark 14: 55-57

“The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death, but they did not find any. Many testified falsely against him, but their statements did not agree. Then some stood up and gave this false testimony against him..”

History is merely repeating itself……no matter what they try to say against the World Mission Society Church of God, it will prove to be false. God Almighty Christ Ahnsahnghong will win the victory the same way that victory was won in Korea!

  10. hassler

I think it is false information
Because, There is a evidence about what people say regarding 1988,1999, and 2012
I’m in agreement with the words from ” the true WMSCOG “

  11. Chamerra Johnson

I have to be honest, I am taken aback by this topic. It is blatant propaganda.

This accusation screams Telephone Game in my mind. You know, the game where multiple people line up and from Person #1 to the Last Person a message is whispered down the line and when the Last Person speaks the phrase aloud, it is almost NEVER the same as the original statement?! You know, kind of like he-say, she-say…word of mouth…bad listening…selective hearing. I am just going to leave that at that..

I am speaking as a member who began attending the church in 2012. As someone who was introduced to the WMSCOG and taught each of the teachings one by one in the aforementioned time period, I would assume that if the church was claiming WWIII/end in 2012 I would have remembered. Fortunately enough, this statement is false as the church NEVER taught me that the end was in 2012 or any particular date or year. If anything, the church teaches that we ought not concern ourselves with dates nor should we base our faith on pending dates but should wait for it (God’s coming and the end) though it lingers, which is a direct teaching from Father Ahnsahnghong and the same as His teachings from His first coming (Parable of the Wise Virgins – see Mt 25).

It is truly saddening to think of the sorrow that will be felt by slanderers, false witnesses and those who gave up their birthright right before the Kingdom of Heaven. I can not fathom the grief nor can I imagine the pain that will be felt on the Last Day — WHENEVER that may be. May Elohim God hold on to all of us who remain and may we grasp tightly on to Them until the day we can enter our Heavenly Home together hand-in-hand. Surely the Kingdom of God is nearer today than it was yesterday; that glorious place is close at hand (and THAT is the teaching of the Bible and subsequently the teaching of WMSCOG as we follow the Word of God).

  12. Johed Raeba

I would actually like to avoid the whole issue regarding “cult” and “evil practices” altogether, and just cut to the chase, that is the Bible, which is what really matters. I could talk to you about any point you want-God the Mother, the Bride (through Revelation and Galatians, or whatever verse), Passover, Sabbath, you name it. But, the first thing I’d like to talk about is “Elohim,” because there is absolutely no way that “Elohim” could be taken to indicate that there is more than one God.

    Check out the following:

One of the main claims by the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) is that the use of “Elohim” (one of the most common words for “God” in Hebrew) in the Bible indicates that there is a plurality of Gods, and that it is partly from this fact that the Bible teaches that there is God the Father and God the Mother. However, a closer look at the Scriptures will reveal otherwise. Continue reading to see.

    Directly from the WMSCOG website:

“In the Hebrew Bible, the word ‘God’ is actually written as ‘Elohim’-‘I will be their God [Elohim].’ ‘Elohim’ is the plural form of the word ‘Eloha,’ meaning a singular God. Therefore ‘Elohim’ means ‘Gods,’ plural.”

    Response:

    1. “Elohim” certainly is the plural form of “God,” but this does not mean that the word should be interpreted as indicating more than one God.

    2. “Elohim” is virtually always accompanied by a singular/masculine form of a verb, which refers back to the subject, namely God, which in turn means that there is a contradiction here if we consider “Elohim” to automatically mean more than one God.

    3. “Elohim,” while being in plural form, also has other interpretations, for example that of the very intensity, essence, and power of God, similar to the “pluralis excellentiae.” And, “elohim” is used in other ways in the Bible which absolutely cannot be meant to mean more than one God, for example in Exodus 7:1, where Moses is called “elohim.”

Conclusion: The use of “Elohim” does not constitute a plurality of gods.

    Thanks!

      Hi Johed,

All of your interpretations could be right if Genesis Chapter 1 verse 27 didn’t exist. But because verse 27 exists, all those elaborate explanations do not really apply to the use of Elohim in Genesis 1:26-27.

Genesis 1:26-27 — “Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’ So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

So the fact that in the image of God, two images came out — male and female — it clearly shows that the original (which is God) has to be both. Had only one image, only male come out, then your interpretation would be more plausible. But since there was also a female image, which was made out of God’s image, then your interpretation does not make sense. Thank you for stopping by, and please come again.

John chapter 1 verse 1 explains what “us” means

        • The True WMSCOG

          Hi Josh,

I would have to disagree with you. John chapter 1 verse 1 does not explain where the female image–that was made after God’s image–came from.

  13. Johed Raeba

First and foremost, thank you for your respectful response. I say this because in the past I have interacted with people from the WMSCOG who have insulted me and told me to “go to hell,” even though I’ve always sought to write and speak respectfully toward everyone, no matter their faith (and yes, I have spoken to many different people-Muslims, Sikhs, atheists, etc). So, it is encouraging to know that there are people from the WMSCOG willing to discuss theology/bible.

    Regarding your response:

    1. You say that my “elaborate explanations do not really apply to the use of Elohim in Genesis 1:26-27.” You could ignore any one of my explanations if you wish. However, what you cannot ignore is the very grammar of the language. I ask: if you are willing to apply the rules of the language (the foundation upon which rests our translation of the text) in one verse, why not the other one? In other words, the same rules that apply to Elohim (subject) and the verbs (e.g. create, say, make, etc.) that modify it in Deuteronomy 6:16 (eloheykem) or 5:16 (eloheyka), or Exodus 3:6 (elohey) also apply to Genesis 1:26-27. You are only cherry-picking if you decide to apply the rules of grammar in one verse, but then not apply them in another verse because of what another verse says. If you do this, then you better have a good explanation for why you ignored the grammatical rules in that same verse, something that you do not show. So, I ask, why should the “us” override the 3rd/singular/masculine rules that accompany the subject “Elohim”?

    2. Of course, the previous question leads to the following. I anticipate your answer by what you wrote, namely, that “in the image of God, two images came out.” However, there are significant problems that accompany this logic. Check this out:

This is your logic, the only assumption being that by “image,” the Bible refers to gender:

1-God created humans in “his” image
    2-Humans are male and female
3-Therefore, God is male and female (God the Father, God the Mother)

Well, if the above is true, so is the following:

1-God created rats and spiders (or have your pick of animal)
2-Rats and spiders are male and female
    3-God is male and female
4-Therefore, rats and spiders were created in God’s image

Of course, this creates a huge problem, namely a contradiction, since the Bible never says that God created animals in his image. In fact, the Bible indicates that only humans were the species to bear God’s image. So, one of the premises in this logic is off.

    3. Of course, the assumption, like I already mentioned, is that by “image,” the Bible is referring to gender. But, this is an assumption. You have to explain how you get this? From where do you deduce that “image” is referring to gender? Your logic of application actually goes backwards. Why should we look at mankind and say that we will know God by observing mankind? If you can tell me where you get this in the Bible, or how you reconcile this, I’d appreciate it.

    Thanks!

      Hi Johed,

Thank you for visiting again. In regards to your questions, I’m sorry but I did not pay much attention to Hebrew grammar in High School… but in any case. The point you are making is well an everything, but my answer does not deny what you are saying. Elohim is a plural word on its own, and whether the accompanying verb is singular or not in other verses of the Bible, it does not deny that in Genesis God spoke in plural, God said “Let US… in OUR Image… in OUR likeness”How do you explain that God spoke in plural? ….. (waiting for an answer)

Can Elohim be used in a singular way based on the “Rules of Grammar”… yes. Does it deny that Elohim God spoke in plural in Genesis 1:26? not at all. Even if the word “Elohim” was not plural, we still have God speaking in plural in Genesis 1:26, and “in the IMAGE OF GOD, they were made MALE and FEMALE”

Now the Bible says, that in the image of God they were made male and female, this is not an assumption, but it is only reading what is recorded in the Bible without taking away from it nor adding to it (Rev. 22:18) The bible could have said many other things when God created mankind, the Bible could have said: “and God made them in his image, kind and tender” or “and God made the in his image, loving and caring”. But the Bible did not do that, the Bible says male and female.

The definition of image according to the dictionary is as follows:

      Full Definition of IMAGE
1 a reproduction or imitation of the form of a person or thing; especially : an imitation in solid form : statue
2 a : the optical counterpart of an object produced by an optical device (as a lens or mirror) or an electronic device
b : a visual representation of something: as (1) : a likeness of an object produced on a photographic material (2) : a picture produced on an electronic display (as a television or computer screen)
      3 a : exact likeness : semblance

Prior to God creating Adam and Eve, God creates all the animals, however the verses prior to verse 26 never say that God created animals in Gods image. But in Romans 1:20 it does say that through the creation we can see invisible qualities of God, it is amazing how God made animals have such love and affection for their offspring, even though they do not have societies or civilizations like we do, but the sacrifice of these animals for the survival of their offspring is something that lets us understand how much God the Father and God the Mother love their children and want to save them.

God the Mother is true, and there are many other testimonies of her throughout the whole Bible, but even if there wasn’t Genesis 1:26-27 is more than enough. Please accept and believe in Heavenly Mother so that you can also receive salvation.
